The City of Airdrie is asking for residents to complete a Community Facility Needs Assessment survey that will help in determining the future of the Town and Country Centre and Nose Creek Valley Museum building. These two buildings have been serving Airdrie for decades and it is time to re-evaluate their abilities to fully serve our community.
The City of Airdrie offers a range of leisure, social and cultural and heritage facilities to address the community’s need for these types of spaces. Two of these key facilties are:
- The Town and Country Centre: Over the decades, this facility has accommodated a myriad of community and family events.
- Airdrie Over 50 Club: Attached to the Town and Country Centre, this space and organization delivers a variety of programs and events from its facility.
- Airdrie Curling Club: Located in the Town and Country Centre, this space and organization also delivers a variety of curling programs and events, and has a lounge area that can be rented for events and functions.
- The Nose Creek Valley Museum building: The museum has been telling the story of the Nose Creek Valley and Airdrie area since it officially opened in 1988. The museum delivers a variety of programs and events and is helping us preserve the heritage and culture of Airdrie.
This assessment seeks to understand the community’s needs and preferences for community gathering spaces, senior facilities, and heritage/ interpretive facilities. This understanding will help shape the options to guide the future of the Town and Country Centre and Nose Creek Valley Museum. These options could include one or more of lifecycle renewal, repurposing, expansion and replacement.

Thank you to everyone who attended the community open houses hosted on Sept. 16 and 17 at the Town and Country Centre. At the open houses, project team members facilitated conversations with community members about this project and to gather some preliminary thoughts from attendees about their leisure, social, and cultural and heritage facility needs.
