The SW Recreation Centre is progressing from high-level planning into detailed facility planning. Schematic design is the next major step where the approved concept is developed into more refined floor plans that show how the facility will work day-to-day.
Schematic design refines how spaces function and connect. This stage examines how people will move through the building, how rooms relate to one another and how the layout will support programs, drop-in use and efficient daily operations.
Sport and community user groups are providing input to refine facility features. Engagement at this stage builds on earlier conversations and focuses on practical requirements, accessibility, movement through the building and how layouts support organized group use.
As design progresses, the City will provide clear updates, will share what was heard from engagement and outline how decisions are being shaped through design, budget and operational considerations.
